I’ve had the idea for this design since I was 14 years old. Before MTV became a bunch of pregnant teens and all Snookies and Catfish, my sister used to watch the alternative video show, “120 Minutes” religiously. I happened to catch the band “Flesh For Lulu” on there one night. Later that week I saw their album, “Long Live The New Flesh” at a record store and I made the connection between them and Lovecraft almost immediately. However, the idea quickly faded from my memory. It wasn’t until recently while I was undergoing extensive shock therapy and out of my skull on Thorazine and pretzels that the doctors unearthed a trove of useless memories. Among these tattered scraps of nothingness was “Flesh For Cthulhu” just waiting to be made.
The design is loosely based on the tattoo style logo from the album cover. When I say loosely, I mean no one would ever make the connection! I still dig this piece and I hope you guys do too!
